Infant Sleep Support System
SleepSync is a smart infant sleep-support system designed to assist babies in developing healthy sleep patterns while reducing nighttime stress for parents. Many infants struggle to self-soothe, resulting in frequent nighttime awakenings that disrupt both infant development and parental well-being. Traditional cribs and existing baby monitors primarily offer passive observation rather than active, responsive soothing. SleepSync addresses this gap by integrating real-time monitoring with automated soothing responses in a safe and modular design. The system combines a camera-based monitoring module, motion detection, optional vital tracking, and two-way audio with a responsive crib rocker, sound system, and adjustable nightlight. Using an ESP32 microcontroller as the central control unit, SleepSync processes real-time sensor and video data to evaluate infant movement patterns and detect signs of distress. A control algorithm determines appropriate responses based on detected activity levels, triggering actuators such as a low-RPM motor for controlled rocking, an audio subsystem for white noise or lullabies, and an RGB LED system for adaptive lighting. Communication between hardware modules and the mobile application is handled wirelessly, enabling low-latency status updates, parental alerts, and manual overrides. Parents can monitor their child remotely through a mobile application that provides live video, rocker status and intensity, sound and light controls, and alerts when intervention may be required. By unifying monitoring and physical soothing into a single coordinated platform, SleepSync offers a more consistent and responsive nighttime solution. The project aims to improve infant sleep quality, enhance safety, and alleviate parental exhaustion through intelligent automation and user-centered design.
